Kimberley Dawn Biography

Kimberley Dawn is a celebrated multi-award-winning Canadian country music artist hailing from Manitoba. With a multifaceted career spanning music, radio broadcasting, acting, and authorship, Kimberley has established herself as a vibrant and influential figure in Canadian cultural and entertainment circles.

As a country singer, Kimberley Dawn has released four acclaimed albums and four singles that have enjoyed radio play. She has garnered numerous prestigious awards throughout her musical career, including the CBC Galaxy Rising Star Award (2003), Best Song Single at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (2005), and multiple honors for Country Album of the Year from the Indian Summer Music Awards (2006, 2016). In 2015, she was recognized as Manitoba’s Country Artist of the Year, and in 2024, she earned the Radio Personality of the Year award from the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA). Although Kimberley planned to return to the recording studio with a new single in February 2024, the sudden loss of her husband in June 2024 postponed new music releases until March 2025.

In addition to her musical talents, Kimberley Dawn is a renowned radio broadcaster with a celebrated 20-year career. Her voice and personality have been a staple on airwaves across Manitoba on multiple stations. She began her radio journey in 2004 after a chance meeting with country icon Ray St Germain, who invited her to join NCI FM. There, Kimberley hosted the popular "Friends on Friday" call-in show and helped develop the Aboriginal Top 40 countdown, which now airs on 81 stations nationwide and on Sirius XM radio. In 2008, Kimberly was recruited to QX 104 FM, where she progressed from weekend announcer to midday host. She also worked at Brandon 101.1 FM The Farm. In July 2016, Kimberley played a key role in launching Now Country 104.7 FM in Winnipeg as the morning show host. Under her tenure, she won Radio Announcer of the Year in 2017, and the station was named Radio Station of the Year. Since March 2024, Kimberley has been entertaining listeners weekday afternoons on 730 CKDM in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Kimberley’s talents extend to acting. She notably portrayed Turtle, a wise 400-year-old character, on the award-winning children’s TV show Tipi Tales, where she shared First Nations teachings with young audiences. She also appeared in a public service film focusing on addiction, playing the protective aunt of a niece grappling with drug-related challenges.

As an author, Kimberley contributed to the acclaimed 2021 anthology The Power of Why, curated by leading author Glory St. Germain. This collection features award-winning stories and reflections, showcasing Kimberley’s literary voice.

Throughout her career, Kimberley Dawn has worn many hats—each demonstrating her passion, resilience, and deep commitment to her community and the arts. Her distinctive contributions to music, radio, acting, and writing continue to inspire audiences across Canada.
